Contests, a Facebook Group, was added to the BJJ New Gear family in the Fall of 2014. This was done for a few reasons.
1. To keep contest posts out of the BJJ New Gear Group where we have previously allowed them. As we continuity seek out and discover new brands to follow all over the globe, we have also increased the number of contests for free gear that we encounter. And posting those to the main Group was becoming unruly. They were difficult to find within the Group after a few days, and just lead to the overall congestion of the Group.
2. To give all the contests to win free gear their own home. Now that Contests has it's own dedicated group, it is much easier for the members to find, follow and participate in all of the contests to win free gear that we discover on both Facebook and Instagram. Whereas before, these posts were just getting lost among all the other posts in the main BJJ New Gear Group.
Sourcing
Any and every contest to win free BJJ gear that we come across on both Facebook and Instagram is added to the group. We follow all the contests and once the winners are selected by the entity holding the event, we post that as an update in both the Group and Instagram for BJJ New Gear Contests. After a few days, we delete the past contest posts from the Group in an effort to keep what is there only the active contest announcements.Recently as of this writing, two contests ended and we were happy that the winners came from our group. To promote that fact we made the following graphic to announce this to the Group, our Instagram followers and even in other Facebook groups. Of course in the comments we tagged the winners so they were aware that they had won.

Summary
Essentially this focused and specialized Group is meant to house all the opportunities for our members and followers to win free BJJ gear from any source that we come across, be it on Facebook, Instagram or even one of the many BJJ magazines that we subscribe to. As the BJJ New Gear entity grows, it is natural to compartmentalize certain aspects in an effort to keep the growth manageable and not have it negatively impact the main BJJ New Gear Group.Links
