All Things BJJ, a sister group to BJJ New Gear, was conceived as an open forum to discuss all issues related to Jiu-Jitsu, including (but not limited to): techniques, schools, injuries, travel, tournaments, seminars, promotions, gear options & reviews, and advice/help as well. In fact, the advice/help aspect is underused and probably the most valuable aspect of the group. We have a deep bench of group members that are more than eager to lend advice on all things BJJ related.
Where All Things BJJ draws the line is on certain promotional posts. While some promotional posts are more than welcome (promoting a seminar, tournament or BJJ-related travel event for example), others are not. And the latter includes: promoting another group or Facebook page, promoting a specific brand, or the selling of any gis or gear whatsoever.
There are other groups on Facebook that allow gi and gear sales, both in the secondary and primary market. And once having allowed those posts in All Things BJJ proved to be a detrimental experiment. These posts ended up negatively impacting the balance of the group because they tend to both overwhelm the group, and take away from the community nature on which the group was founded. So you can put that in the column of: Been there, Done that. Not Again.
There are numerous classified-type groups for individual gear sale and purchase, and there is BJJ New Gear for the brand owners to promote their goods directly. All Things BJJ more of a friendly, non-commerce forum.
All Things BJJ will not permit hateful or disrespectful posts or comments. That is a common theme in all BJJ New Gear and related/sister groups. BE NICE, OR LEAVE.
We want the people posting as well as those making comments to do so in a friendly environment where they are free from the fear that they will be the subject of trolls, haters or those that seek to pass judgement.
Unfortunately that happens all to often in other groups on Facebook, and quite simply we will not permit it. There is a zero tolerance in the group and first time offenders are simply banned for life. So either be nice, or leave. Be helpful or move on. For the life of me I do not know why people can not just live and let live and feel like they have to pass judgement and/or make hurtful comments. And while we can't control what people do, we can, will and do eliminate those people from our group.
BJJ promotes a healthy, friendly environment that is all inclusive. This group will reflect that.
Ok, enough about that.
So if you have a BJJ-related question that you need some help, input or advice on please feel free to post. Some of the posts have been for:
- Injuries;
- Gear sizing, quality, brand experience, etc.;
- Recommendations on BJJ academies to check out when traveling or moving;
- Tournament-related issues (IBJJF rules, uniform rules, format, weight classes);
- BJJ diets;
- Discussion on upcoming matches (e.g., Metamoris);
- Which gi brands to consider for specific needs (heavy-weight, light-weight, IBJJF-approved, etc.);
- Seeking help with specific techniques;
- Questions on sponsorship;
- And the list goes on and on.
So enjoy a friendly forum with thousands of BJJ enthusiasts from across the globe who are more than willing to listen and help with virtually anything you need that is related to BJJ. Oss.
